In far too many schools, senior staff spend a great deal of time setting up their own analysis spreadsheets. Quite often each spreadsheet ends up being a 'one off' because data has to be typed or pasted in where the level of Excel expertice doesn't allow particular features and the result can end up less than desirable. What's more, when the next round of data comes in, the spreadsheet has to be done again from scratch.
This is not good use of senior staff time. The resulting spreadsheets are not as good as they might be and, because of the way they have been put together could well have errors in. It also means that there is a large delay between the data capture and the actual use and analysis of the data because of all the processing time needed.
The Analyser series of spreadsheets allow data to be exported from a school's MIS in one single export and then imported into the spreadsheet in a single 'Paste'. The whole spreadsheet is then ready to use! This means that staff can spend their time analysing the data rather than 'playing around with Excel'!
The spreadsheets are easily customisable to include a school's subjects and assessment structure. There are currently, Analyser spreadsheets for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Attendance.
More details will appear here in the near future but for now, here's a few screenshots of the Key Stage 4 Analyser.
Once the data is 'loaded', various details are selected in the 'Control Panel' such as Subject, Assessment and baseline. Excel's data filters can then be used to investigate different groups of students.

Here another subject has been selected and the data has been filtered to a particular teaching group..........

The Overview screen compares an assessment with a target for all subjects and gives summary residuals...

There is summary subject Analysis (as shown here) and student analysis....

Simple 'Residuals' are also calculated. This particular residual compares each students score in one subject with their mean score across all their subjects.
